Formed by a design collective of three friends, YACCOMARICARD began in 1977 as a fashion project in Harajuku, Tokyo.
The founders were fashion graduate Mariko Watanabe, photographer Ricardo Watanabe and Yacco Hayata; a graduate of the highly respected Bunka Fashion College whose alumni include Kenzo Takada and Yohji Yamamoto.
Their aim was to break away from the constraints of conventional Japanese clothing of the time using oversized shapes in an excess of luxurious natural fabrics that could act as an expression of their lifestyle.
Their journey led them to the refinement and mastering of techniques such as the garment dye process and hand placed pin tuck work - characteristics now synonymous with the brand.
The label has now grown beyond Japan, but the contemporary silhouettes and details that reflect their modern Japanese aesthetic remain. Combined with exceptional manufacturing, the highest quality fabrics and immaculate attention to detail, each piece is designed to last beyond trends and deliver true understated luxury.

ZANPU is a Japanese word that means "fabric scraps". Nowadays, excessive energy is used to dispose excess fabric from the production process. Our goal is reduce these problems by upcycling waste fabric in order to build a sustainable community for a better world.
This concept thus creates a balance between producers, consumers and the environment. Allowing all parties to participate in building sustainability in society through design and create new products that are useful in everyday life by upcycling waste fabric scraps into high quality and valuable timeless cutting methods.
